Safety, Standards and Security

 The glow of a fire on a cool night is a beautiful sight. We're looking forward to that at our next FIT, firewalking instructor training, which takes place here in Dallas from December 3 - 6.
Students have signed up, and we're getting more and more enquiries every day as the date draws closer. Our last FIT attracted students from all over the world and led to a planned event in China.
It's not too late to recommend the training to someone you know. Your referrals to FIRE help keep the Institute the global leader in instruction.
Safety is Paramount
The tragic news from Sedona was very sad, and FIRE extends its heartfelt thoughts to those affected by that event. It was a reminder to us that safety is paramount.
Earlier this month, FIRE hosted a tele-seminar focused on safety guidelines for all life coaching and empowerment activities. You can read about it below. The event was recorded and we encourage you to order a free copy (just pay the media and shipping costs) to hear valuable advice from several experts.
Important Meeting: FIRE Certification
On December 2 at 3:00 p.m., the day before the FIT, we will convene a meeting of instructors to discuss FIRE certification levels. All instructors are invited to attend and contribute to the discussion.
Long time instructors - especially previously certified masters: this would be a great time for you to return to FIRE to learn all the latest techniques and changes to the FIT under our direction in Dallas. Experience it firsthand and take new lessons back to your corner of the world to stimulate attendance.

Certification Requirements Changing
We have had many discussions about safety issues in the past few weeks, and believe it is in the best interest of our industry to enhance certification guidelines to ensure lifelong learning by instructors.
Just as lawyers and accountants are required to attain CEUs (continuing education units), FIRE is contemplating a system in which instructors must re-qualify periodically to maintain their status. While firewalking and empowerment activities are safe when done properly, we were sadly reminded recently that accidents can and do happen.
The silver lining in all of this is that FIRE may be able to secure millions of dollars of insurance for executive and master instructors with a new certification system. This type of bond will have stringent requirements, yet will offer personal and professional security to upper-level instructors. Furthermore, it will signal to students and corporations who use our training that the industry is vigilant about safety.
FIRE is negotiating for two types of policies: errors & omissions, and event coverage. These types of policies have previously been unavailable in our field. The insurance company will underwrite executive and master instructors only. All instructors should consider taking the Executive Firewalking Instructor Training (eFIT) in April 2010 to qualify by re-certifying older credentials.

A Life-Changing, Personal Growth Experience

When my husband, Kenny, and I attended the Firewalking
Instructor Training (FIT) in August 2009, we didn't know exactly what to expect
when we arrived in Dallas. What we got was an incredible, life-changing,
personal growth experience!
Attending the FIT as a couple, we were able to share in each other's excitement
and triumphs. We witnessed each other push through limiting beliefs and use
personal fears as tools to move us forward in life. We experienced clarity regarding our goals (new and
long-standing), and increased our confidence and belief that we can achieve
anything - no matter how lofty.
Manifest Destiny
Achieved
Since taking the FIT in August, we have already seen many of
our goals manifest. We have
developed two Web sites, KennyChapman.net and The6StepDiet.com, finished
Kenny's book, The 6 Dimensions of Change
(which will be available by the end of this year), and have incorporated
the techniques we learned at the FIT into our seminars.
 Our latest event was targeted towards sales people. We taught
them how to maximize potential and overcome limiting beliefs. In the last
segment, we incorporated a glasswalk. Participants loved it! The
presentation techniques that we learned at the FIT were invaluable in terms of
helping the glasswalk run smoothly and effectively. As a bonus, it was such a wonderful feeling for us to know
that we were able to help others discover their own power and accomplish
something they never thought possible.
The FIT Experience Changed Us
Our experience at the FIT was as much about our personal
empowerment as it was about being able to incorporate the techniques into our
seminars. The final certification
test proved very powerful. We walked across fire 108 times consecutively! That's something we reflect back on
whenever we're faced with a challenge. If we can do that, what else is
possible? Everything.
We were very impressed by the professionalism of the
facilitators and trainers; their knowledge and experience was inspiring. The
precise execution of activities and emphasis on safety was impressive. Thanks again to all the
individuals who contributed to our incredible FIT experience.
We hope our fellow classmates, with whom we have a lifelong
bond, are feeling as empowered as we are since the FIT. Remember... "We walked on fire, we can do
anything!"

to others exactly how it changed your life, you just know that it did... forever. If you've never been to a FIT, all we can say is go... the personal and professional rewards
are enormous!

The Business of Influence
