Witnessing the transformation in people is one of the things that makes our work at the Institute so worthwhile. Firewalking helps people burn off their head trash and live happier lives.
Our recent firewalking instructor training (FIT) - our one and only FIT in Europe for this year - was a catalyst for self-discovery. People's attitudes and energy changed, some healed, and relationships strengthened. Graduates were inspired to return home and light a fire under others. Take a look and see how the changes unfolded day by day, to leave a lasting remembrance of this life changing event.
"I expected huge things to happen at this event and got so much more! This event has unleashed the awesome power within me. By breaking through my limiting barriers, I have now opened brilliant new horizons."
- Christa Maasburg - Bahrain
If you know someone who could use a wake-up call in their life, give the gift that can change a life in amazing ways. Sponsor them to a FIT or eFIT. Take it yourself, or take it again for a special price (see DISCOUNT offer at the bottom of the page). It's an investment in yourself or another that will pay huge dividends. |

The Power of Vision
Below you will read a truly impactful story about the Power of Vision, written by one of our recently certified firewalk instructors. He is also the gentleman who will be organizing our first India FIT on November 18th-21st, 2010. We know this is the first time you have heard about this event, but act now a receive some blazing discounts!
In these turbulent times with markets creating never heard before symphonies, industries frantically looking for anything and everything to hang on to, entrepreneurs, individuals, investors burdened with ever increasing insecurity about the future, governments at their wits end for they have no clue either - I have come across individuals and organizations which are relaxed, composed and yet very gung ho about the future. I found out a common thread which they all have - their commitment to have a positive vision of their future.
Someone once said -"It's easy to say "NO", when there's a deeper "YES" burning inside for something else.
Bulls Eye! That gentleman couldn't be more precise.
It's easy to say no to your friends for a movie if there is a deeper burning "Yes" for studies.
Its easy to say "No" to junk food, to your favorite morning "just 5 more minutes" statement - if there is a deeper burning "Yes' to a good healthy body.
It's easy to switch off the TV late at night, to stop gossiping- if there is an inner burning "Yes" to prepare for the meeting the next day at office.
It's easy to throw out the cribbing and complaining nature of yours- if there is a strong burning "Yes" to bring in the nature of acceptance and gratitude.
It's easy to let go of the hurt of the past, of the failures, of losses, of broken relationships- if there is a fanatical surrender to your FUTURE.
Oh Yes! It's easy. But it's easy only if you have an eye( Yes) on your Future - Your Vision of your future.
Having a positive vision of the future is essential for all of us. For every time we are future based in our vision we give ourselves an opportunity to create a life which we always wanted. It is the most powerful motivator for change that you and I possess. It influences our direction in the present and it gives meaning to our lives and our work. It gives us more control of our present and helps overcome seemingly insurmountable odds...... Oh! I can go on and on and on.
Drop my words if you want but please don't drop the essence of what I want to communicate- the core being the importance of having a positive vision of our future.
If there is still someone who has in his mind why should we take the time to think about the future? Let me remind you the fact that - that's where we're going to spend the rest of our lives.
Joel Barker the great futurist says - Vision without action is merely a dream, Action without Vision is time pass, Vision with action can change the world.
Come on Lets change our world!
With love,

5 Deadly PR Sins
There are dozens of mistakes that people make when it comes to public relations, but not all of them are fatal. Many PR firms blunder along for years making the same mistakes over and over again. But here are 5 mistakes you simply can't make if you want to have long-term success with the media: Deadly Sin #1 Not doing your homework. It's pretty basic, but you would be surprised at how many well-paid PR people don't even do a simple Google search before pitching their story to a journalist. When I was a TV reporter I would get pitched light, fluffy feature stories long after my station had moved me to hard news. When people would pitch me a "leave them laughing" story, it would make me wonder if they ever bothered to watch one of my reports. Deadly Sin #2Sounding too much like a commercial. The reason news outlets have sales departments is so that people can buy advertising. If your pitch to a journalist sounds like a blatant commercial, you're not even going to get a call back. With our clients we always peel the commercial off the pitch and put a spotlight on the value to the audience. If your story doesn't meet the "who cares" test, don't even bother picking up the phone. Deadly Sin #3Lying to the media. If you want to have a relationship with a journalist, your credibility is all-important. For instance, when we're getting a client on TV and they're not an amazing interview, I don't tell the journalist that they are. We coach our clients on how to talk in soundbites, but some are just naturally better than others. If a journalist asks me how good an interview someone is, I don't exaggerate. The truth will come out. My relationship with the reporter is paramount. Deadly Sin #4
Not paying attention to deadlines. These days reporters are under more stress than ever before. With all the layoffs in the industry, journalists are being asked to do more with less. If a journalist calls me needing an expert who can talk on a subject, my very first question is "What's your deadline?" I need to know if I need to drop what I'm doing to help the journalist that minute or if it's something I can get to later. Deadly Sin #5Not learning from your PR mistakes. I've written a best-selling book on publicity and I run a thriving PR firm, but I'm learning all the time. For instance, I worked with a client to make them a good soundbite. We did extensive media training, recording interviews and playing them back over and over again until I felt like the client was ready for live TV. They weren't. They were nervous and actually went to the bathroom and got sick before the interview. On air they appeared ashen and unsure. The host was nice, but politely told me later that my guest wasn't very good and to not let it happen again. I kicked myself and made a promise that I would never put a client in that situation again unless I was absolutely sure they were ready. I was reminded that despite all our preparation, the poor performance of the client reflected poorly on me. Banker-Riskin v. Holman
"GET YOUR FIRE TEDERS FIRE CERTIFIED"
We have had many discussions about safety issues in the past, and believe it is always in your best interest to host all of your events in the safest way possible. It is up to you, the facilitator,to make sure everything goes as planned. The best way to do this, is to establish a team that you can trust and will handle any situation with ease. A few years back, the idea of establishing a solid team played a huge role for Ronald Holman.
After receiving his certification from the Firewalking Institute, Ronald was ready and eager to start his very own events. After a few of his events, Ronald learned how hard it can be to try and run every aspect of a firewalk event, i.e facilitating and instructing. He returned back to one of the lessons that Tolly had taught him just a few months before, Let it be Easy! He sent his good friend and future fire tender to become certified as a firewalk instructor. Little did Ronald know how big of an impact this little action would make.
On Ronald's second event, after sending his fire tender to become certified, a lady by the name of Anita decided to take part in the event. She went through the exact same similar that thousands have done before her, signed the waiver, got into the right state of mind, broke a board, and even walked across the fire. A few days after Anita, participated in the firewalking event, she believed that the hot spot that she received was significant enough to make a case out of it.
This case went all the way to the Superior Court for the County of Los Angeles and was left up to Judge Mohr to make a final ruling on whether or not the instructors had done anything wrong. There were several reasons why the ruling went in the favor of Holman, but the main reason was because of his decision to send his fire tender to become F.I.R.E. certified. Judge Mohr Ronald stated, "it's amazing how a small decision, that I thought was just going to save me time and help me be a little more stress-free for my events, turned out to not only saving my name and reputation, but also my business. Because I had him certified, we won the case and everything is still in tack. I am very happy that him certified, and it has surely paid off in the end."
As you can see, it is very important to have your entire team to be ready and able for any and all situations. Be sure to get your fire tenders certified and avoid having the opposite results of the Holman case. We offer special discounts for any instructor who sends a fire tender to become certified, and to learn more about these discounts contact Matt Carr. |
